"Open your eyes - children surprise"
Today, around 4,600 kindergarten children and school children in Liechtenstein are making their way back to school. Extrapolated, this corresponds to around 36,800 kilometers that all children travel together each day. This requires increased attention from all road users. For children, the journey to school is not just the way to school, but a daily experience. There is a lot to discover, see and experience. Children see the world from a different perspective and perceive our environment with different eyes. Whether alone or in groups, children are not primarily concerned with traffic on the way to school, but chat, sing or play together. For this reason, drivers need to be attentive, think for themselves and pay more attention to children. This is because they often react unpredictably and surprisingly.
To avoid dangerous situations, it is important to always bring the vehicle to a standstill in front of a pedestrian crossing and not to give children a hand signal to cross the road. However, drivers should be vigilant and give a warning signal if a dangerous situation arises (e.g. if traffic in the opposite direction does not stop). Because only together can dangerous situations or even accidents be avoided.
Thank you for your help in ensuring a safe journey to school.
