A clear "yes" to the new marketplace with a mobility hub and underground parking garage
Voters in Vaduz approved the CHF 55 million commitment credit for the construction of the new market square, including a mobility hub and underground parking garage, with more than 90 percent voting in favor. This clears the way for an important milestone in the development of downtown Vaduz.
With 90.85 percent of the vote in favor, voters have paved the way for the implementation of the new market square. A modern arrival and gathering place will thus be created in the center of Vaduz. The market square offers space for markets, events, and everyday interactions, and meaningfully combines leisure and mobility.
As a central mobility hub, the new public transit bus terminal enables easy, safe, and comfortable boarding, transferring, and alighting with clearly arranged curbs. The facility is complemented by ample bicycle parking spaces and public restrooms.
For pedestrians and cyclists, direct, safe, and barrier-free connections are being created to the old town and toward Giessen. The new pedestrian and bicycle bridge with a viewing platform, as well as the ramp, create short, clearly laid-out paths and offer a view of Vaduz Castle.
A three-story underground parking garage is being built beneath the market square, thereby relocating all parking underground. This creates an open, flexibly usable space with a high quality of life.
The clear result of the vote demonstrates the public’s broad confidence in the planned downtown development and provides a strong foundation for the next steps.
