Sewer Rehabilitation 2026: A Sustainable Investment in Vaduz’s Infrastructure
In 2026, the Municipality of Vaduz will renovate damaged sections of the public sewer system. These measures will ensure the long-term functionality of the infrastructure and make an important contribution to water and environmental protection.
The public sewer system in the municipality of Vaduz is in good condition. This is the result of a consistent and sustainable maintenance strategy over the past years. Nevertheless, it is necessary to continuously repair any damage that occurs in order to extend the service life of the facilities and avoid undesirable impacts on the environment and operations.
Based on a comprehensive condition analysis, priority sections were specifically identified for the 2026 renovation phase. The primary goal is to reduce the ingress of extraneous water, which will also lower operating costs.
Modern technology without excavation
The planned measures include repairs and renovations of existing pipes. Modern, trenchless methods will be used for this purpose. Localized damage, for example, will be repaired using sewer robots or internal sleeves, while so-called liner methods will be employed for more extensive damage. These methods enable sustainable rehabilitation without extensive excavation and extend the service life of the pipes by several decades.
Work is scheduled to begin in mid-April 2026 and is expected to last until the end of June. Thanks to the chosen construction method, disruptions to the public will be kept to a minimum. Traffic disruptions are generally limited to short periods, and full road closures are not planned. Renovation work on busy road sections will be scheduled for the early night hours when traffic is light.
With this project, the municipality of Vaduz is ensuring that the wastewater infrastructure continues to function reliably in the future, that the environment is protected, and that existing assets are preserved for the long term.
