Town Hall Clock to Undergo Extensive Renovation
The clock on the tower of the Vaduz City Hall is undergoing a comprehensive renovation. In addition to replacing the technical systems, the hands, numerals, and lighting will also be renewed.
After more than 30 years, the clock on the tower of Vaduz City Hall has reached the end of its technical service life. After the clock on the northwest side had already failed, a damage assessment determined that both the clock mechanisms and the central control system must be replaced.
The necessary work also involves structural modifications to the tower. In this context, the municipality is taking the opportunity to carry out further restoration work on the tower clock. For example, the hands will be completely remade based on their previous design, as the existing hands are too heavy for the new clock mechanisms. In addition, the hour markers will be repainted so that they harmonize visually with the new hands.
Special attention is also being paid to the clock’s future visibility: the hour indices will be equipped with indirect backlighting. To achieve this, each individual index will be technically wired and illuminated. Thanks to these renovation efforts, the town hall clock will be preserved as a defining landmark in the center of Vaduz for years to come.
The work is scheduled to be completed over the course of the summer.
